Wisconsin Loans: What you need to know

The Wisconsin law setting requirements and limits for the assignment of wages does not apply to employee-authorized deductions from an employee's wages to pay back salary advances or loans from the employer (WI Stat. Sec. 241.09). Employers must provide a clear statement on the employee's paycheck, pay envelope, or on paper accompanying the wage payment of the amount of and reason for each deduction from the employee's wages. Any reasonable coding system may be used to describe deductions on payroll statements (WI Stat. Sec. 103.457).
