Vermont Hours of Work: What you need to know

Vermont employers are legally obligated to consider an employee's request for a flexible working arrangement at least twice per year. A flexible working arrangement is defined under the law as "intermediate or long-term changes in the employee's regular working arrangements, including changes in the number of days or hours worked, changes in the time the employee arrives at or departs from work, work from home, or job-sharing."
The law doesn't mandate that employers grant all requests for flexible working arrangements, but it does require an employer to discuss an employee's request in good faith and consider whether the arrangement may be granted in a manner that's consistent with its business operations or its legal or contractual obligations. The law further provides that employers may not retaliate against employees who request flexible working arrangements.
