Public employers. Public employers are required to ensure that the workforce is compliant with all state and federal laws, guidelines, and court orders regarding Equal Opportunity Employment (MS Admin. Code Sec. 46 000 001).
The Office of Minority Business Enterprises, a branch of the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA), maintains programs that provide opportunities for qualified minority and women-owned business to participate in the procurement activities of educational institutions, governmental agencies, and private entities (MS Code Sec. 57-69-1et seq.). The business must have one or more minority or female owners with a controlling interest. For more information, go to www.mississippi.org.
Note: Qualified minority owned businesses are certified by the MDA.
