Wyoming Affirmative Action: What you need to know

The Wyoming Fair Employment Practices Act prohibits discrimination in employment on the basis of age, sex, race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, disability or pregnancy (WY Stat. Sec. 27-9-105et seq.). The law applies to all public employers and private employers with two or more employees within the state; but it does not apply to religious organizations or associations (WY Stat. Sec. 27-9-102). There are no specific affirmative action provisions covering private employers.

In certain instances, a person alleging discrimination may also file a private lawsuit in state court. Remedies can include cease-and-desist orders, hiring, reinstatement or promotion, or back pay.
