Ohio Diversity: What you need to know

The Ohio Civil Rights Act prohibits all public employers and private employers with four or more employees from discriminating against applicants or employees on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), military status, national origin, disability, or ancestry.

The Council's mission is "to create change that improves independence, productivity and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities and their families in community life." EDGE. EDGE (Encouraging Diversity, Growth and Equity) is a state-run assistance program for economically and socially disadvantaged small businesses by giving them preference in awarding public contracts. That includes contracts from state agencies, boards, and commissions for the procurements of supplies and services, professional services, information technology services, and construction and professional design services for the procurements of supplies and services. EDGE-certified businesses are also eligible for state-provided contract assistance, financial and bonding assistance, management and technical assistance, and protégé opportunities with industry mentors.
