Wyoming Equal Pay/Comparable Worth: What you need to know

The Wyoming Equal Pay Law prohibits employers from discriminating on the basis of gender by paying wages to employees at a rate less than the rate paid to employees of the opposite gender when the employees work at the same establishment and perform equal work on jobs that require equal skill, effort, and responsibility and that are performed under similar working conditions (WY Stat. • A seniority system or a merit system;
• A system which measures earning by quantity or quality of production; or
• A differential based on any factor other than gender
The Law applies to all employers in the state and any individual acting in the interest of an employer.
The Wyoming Fair Employment Practices Act prohibits employers from discriminating in the compensation of employees on the basis of age (40 and older), sex, race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, pregnancy, or disability (WY Stat. Sec. 27-9-101 et seq.). The Act covers employers with two or more employees.
Under the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, federal fair employment laws were amended so that each paycheck affected by an employer's prior discriminatory practice or decision constitutes an unlawful discriminatory act that triggers a new deadline for filing a pay discrimination claim. An employee alleging discrimination must be able to show that the paycheck or other compensation was affected by a past discriminatory act.
