The ReadyOhio campaign helps educate and empower businesses to plan for emergencies including natural disasters, pandemics, power outages, and other incidents. Go to http://publicsafety.ohio.gov for information.
Ohio participates in the Emergency Alert System, which sends information and warnings to targeted populations by radio, broadcast and cable television, and other media.
Some counties in the state have implemented their own emergency notification systems, including reverse 911 phone notification and notification via e-mail and mobile devices. Contact information for county emergency management agencies is available at http://webeoc.ema.state.oh.us.
There is a network of emergency alert sirens to aid in early notification of weather emergencies. The siren systems are maintained, tested, and activated by local emergency management agencies.
County emergency management agencies as well as larger cities identify local evacuation routes.
Floods and natural emergencies. OEM issues flood warnings and warnings on other natural emergencies; county emergency management implements evacuation on the local level.
Nuclear plants. Businesses in Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties should review evacuation plans regarding nuclear power plants at http://ema.ohio.gov.
