Alaska First Aid: What you need to know

Alaska has its own Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulatory program that governs private and public sector workplaces. The program's first-aid requirements are identical to those of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act). A person who provides emergency care voluntarily (i.e., without expectation of monetary compensation) is immune from civil liability for acts or omissions that he or she may have performed in providing such care. Immunity does not apply if the acts or omissions amount to gross negligence or reckless or intentional misconduct. Immunity from liability does not extend to employees trained in health care who render emergency care for pay or with the expectation of being paid (AK Stat. Sec. 09.65.090).
