Missouri First Aid: What you need to know

Missouri does not have its own occupational safety and health regulatory program for private sector (private businesses and nonprofit organizations) employers. Therefore, in the private sector, the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act governs workplace health and safety. There are no first-aid regulatory requirements for public sector (government offices and operations) workplaces. Check your municipal codes for local requirements. Mines in Missouri must have an adequate supply of first-aid equipment both at the surface and at strategic locations within the mine. The law requires that first-aid supplies be kept in sanitary receptacles that are designed to be reasonably secure against dust and moisture (MO Rev. Stat. Sec. 293.100).
Any physician, surgeon, nurse, or licensed mobile emergency medical technician may in good faith render emergency care or assistance, without compensation, at the scene of an emergency or accident, and will not be liable for civil damages as a result of acts or omissions unless caused by gross negligence or by willful or wanton acts or omissions. Also protected by this law is anyone trained to provide first aid in a standard recognized training program, as long as he or she provides aid only to the level for which he or she has been trained (MO Rev. Stat. Sec. 537.037).
