Washington has a workplace safety and health plan, the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act (WISHA), which is federally approved. Therefore, it is a “state-plan” state, and as such, it can enforce its own state job safety and health laws (WA Rev. Code Sec. 49.70.010 et seq.).
