Vermont Political Activity: What you need to know

Employees have the right to take unpaid leave for the purpose of attending a town meeting, provided the employee notifies the employer at least 7 days before the date of the town meeting. The employer may also deny such leave if it interferes with the efficient operation of business. Employers may not penalize an employee for exercising his or her right to attend a town meeting (21 VSA Sec. 472b).
