The state Department of Transportation, in conjunction with South Florida Commuter Services, has a teleworking/telecommuting resource page for private employers at www.1800234ride.com. reThink of Central Florida offers services and information for employers on telecommuting at www.rethinkyourcommute.com. Commuter Services of North Florida has a telework resource page at www.commuterservices.org.
The Department of Management Services's Human Resources Agency coordinates and manages the state employee telecommuting program (FL Stat. Sec. 110.171(1)). However, not all job positions are suitable for telecommuting, and not all employees are entitled to participate based on performance and conduct evaluations. Each agency determines which positions are eligible, establishes internal procedures, and must give equal consideration to employees in career service and exempt positions.
The state of Florida follows the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and requires that all citizens in an employer-employee relationship be paid in accordance with the Act.
