Virginia is a “state plan” state, which means that it has a federally approved occupational safety and health regulatory program. Therefore, both public (government offices and operations) and private (private businesses and nonprofit organizations) sector employers are governed by state occupational safety and health regulations. The state has adopted by reference the federal fall protection requirements.
Virginia Department of Labor and Industry’s (DOLI) Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH) Program administers and enforces fall protection requirements in private and public sector workplaces.
