Mississippi law does not require the provision of first aid in the workplace, nor does the state have its own occupational safety and health plan for private employers. Therefore, in the private sector, the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act) governs workplace health and safety. There is no public sector (government offices and operations) workplace safety and health program in Mississippi. There is additional information and a detailed discussion. Please see the national First Aid section.
Any person (including doctors, nurses, dentists, or emergency medical technicians) that in good faith and with reasonable care renders emergency care at the scene of an emergency will not be liable for any civil damages as a result of any act or omission in rendering care (MS Code Sec. 73-25-37).
