Iowa has adopted the federal materials handling rules for general industry (IAC 875-10.20) and construction (IAC 875-26.1) by reference. Materials handling activities include the use of hoisting equipment (cranes, derricks, helicopters, and slings) and powered industrial trucks (i.e., forklifts).
The Iowa Occupational Safety and Heath Administration (IOSHA) administers and enforces workplace safety rules in the state.
