COMPARISON: STATE VS. FEDERAL
Florida is not a “state plan” state; that is, it does not have a federally approved occupational safety and health program. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Act governs safety data sheet (SDS) requirements in private sector workplaces. There is no federal or state workplace safety standard for nonfederal public sector employers in Florida.
See the national analysis SDS for information on the federal requirements.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) administers and enforces occupational safety and health, including SDS requirements, in the private sector workplace.
