Kentucky does not have its own ergonomics requirements for reducing musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace. Any regulatory agency response to injury or illness in private sector (private businesses and nonprofit organizations) and public sector (state and local governments) workplaces related to a musculoskeletal disorder fall under the obligations of the state General Duty Clause (KY Rev. Stat. 338.031).
Federal OSHA has developed voluntary ergonomics guidelines for nursing homes, shipyards, retail grocery stores, and poultry processing and is in the process of issuing guidelines for several other industries.
