Colorado Safety Committees: What you need to know

An employer with a certified cost containment program that includes a documented safety committee and/or safety coordinator may qualify for a workers’ compensation insurance premium dividend. There are no additional mandatory requirements for employers to establish a safety committee under federal or state workplace safety and health rules.

The Colorado Workers’ Compensation Cost Containment Board administers the requirements for the cost containment program.

In evaluating the application by an employer for certification of a cost containment program under workers’ compensation rules, the employer must create a documented safety committee and/or establish a safety coordinator.
