Comparison: State vs. Federal
Arizona is a “state plan” state; that is, it has its own federally approved occupational safety and health plan, the Arizona Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1972 (AOSHA). The training requirements set forth in AOSHA are the same as the federal requirements.
For more information on federal training requirements, see the national TRAINING regulatory analysis.
The Industrial Commission of Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) administers and enforces occupational safety and health, including training requirements, in both the public and private sector workplaces. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) administers the hazardous materials transportation rules.
